What is new ?

March 13, 2010

I found I have mistyped static urls on 300 pages. So if you get a 404 page, look at the url and change the word 'archives' to the word 'articles' and it should then work.

I am working on the problem.

Have a nice day.

Well, late Saturday evening. I fixed the links. Textpattern doesn't have a search and replace, so I did it by editing each page/article. As far as I can tell, everything should be okay now.

March 12, 2010

Done. All urls now point to this textpattern cms/blog.

Taking a break, tiring work week. So I probably wont be doing much more on Crestar this weekend.

The Movable Type part of this site has been completely removed by me.

March 9, 2010

More static links on these pages have been updated to the new format. Hopefully I will get all editing done by mid-April, 2010.

March 7, 2010

All World All pages should now lead here instead of the previous blog.

March 4, 2010

Sraa Keep is moved completely to the new blog.

Feb 28, 2010

Found some surface map World All pages with incorrect column markers. I fixed them.

Mostly done with surface map columns 4 and 5. Cleanup the sitemap html page.

I'll be taking a break next weekend, so I don't think I'll be working on this web site then.

Feb 27, 2010

links to surface map (large png) Columns 1 through 3 have been moved to this blog/cms.

The World All pages have been updated so they link to the new blog

Feb 21, 2010

Continuing to work on updating the urls here to match the new blog/cms.

Feb 20. 2010

I have worked more on moving this site over to Textpattern. About 300-400 pages left to edit on the textpattern version of this site to remove references to 'crest of a star' as part of the url. Not all categories and entries imported.

I decided to remove the category plugins and use the menu from twinhelic.com for site navigation. Still using categories for articles.

Feb 14, 2010

I decided to delete old entries in the MT blog as I move them over here. Still having probems with category plugins showing the various nested category lists and getting the display time down to 1 second.

February 2, 2010

Created a Textpattern CMS/Blog. Checking links, articles, etc. As I correct them, I'll mark them on the Movable Type blog as category 'a_moved' to show you they are over here and corrected.

None of the FAQ/static pages have been updated except this one. The links below have not been updated to match the new cms/blog.

--snip--

Note that many of my new maps contain bitmap fills. Go to this page to get the bitmap fills.

Here is the basic format of the nation links.
nation:
1) basic info/nation entrance
2) geography
3) government
4) leader[s]
5) maps
6) population

I kept the same basic format, even the ones moved to the blog.

Work in progress is the surface maps, adding them to my blog so that surface locations are searchable.

text only locator for the surface maps

The meeting of surface map columns A- and A is the Zero Degree Longitude line.

The surface maps sequence is: Z- through A- then A through Z, with map columns 1 through 18 in between Z- and Z with column 1 starting after Z and 18 the column before column Z-.

The blog search is restored, going to the above linked surface locations page will give you a list of what surface features are now more easily findable. If you see a (D) next to the link, there are details available.

As I look over the map files and web pages for errors, I'll correct them as soon as I can. I've done this several times over the past few weeks so far.

After many of the new surface maps were done I came up with this idea. I've decided to create a 'database' of people and places on Crestar. It will be a set of entries in the blog with: type of location, name, and surface map location. This will be things like islands, atoll, ocean deeps, mountains, dungeons, towns, etc. It will take longer, but I'll also be going the same for NPCs I created for my campaign. Info like: name, alignment, character class, level. I may modify this as I progress. Basically, you will be able to do a search on the blog for atoll, then you will be shown a page with a list of atolls in this campaign, and where they are located. Each will be linked, clicking on them will take you to a map. Of course, this will take lots of time... certainly don't look for it to be completed any time soon. If I get done before October I'll be amazed as I intend to add surface features and people as I go. This long term project should help you find things around here easier.

The locations links which is a list of types of locations like; atoll, deep, mountains, lake, river, etc.

here is an example

site loads faster now

I dropped the side bar category listing and went with the across the top of the page menu. Load times changed from 10-14 seconds down to less than a second.

Site loads slowly, working on the problem.

Yup, takes about 10 seconds to load a page here. I am working on a solution.

Thank you for stopping by.

update.

Well, the rss_unlimited plugin loads much faster, but I cannot get it to show the correct nested category list. Unfortunately, it doesn't link to anything.

I am moving back to an earlier plugin, the one that takes 10 seconds to load a page.
